The large scale multi-touch hardware product designer and manufacturer Ideum, has teamed with 3M’s Touch Systems division and launched the Platform 46 series Windows 8 multi-touch computer tablets. Whether it is the standing-height table or the coffee table model, all are equipped with 46 inches 1920×1080 resolution LCD screens, and integrated with a powerful computer system. These devices will be announced for the first itme in next week’s InfoComm 2013 exhibition in Orlando, Florida.
The Platform 46 has a height of 34 inches and weight of 160 lbs. The multi-touch panel is from 3M’s C4667PW, same as those in the smartphones and tablet computers, only with the larger size. It’s reported that it supports up to 60 points touch, the response time is up to 12ms, and is not subject to interference from ambient light.
Platform 46 applies to libraries, schools, museums and trade fairs and other occasions, it is also equipped with a 3mm thin chemical tempered glass, which is resistant to dust and has passed the IP54 waterproof certification. The thickness of the top panel is 35mm, and the base is with aviation level aluminum alloy, the computer system is equipped with 3.1GHz Intel i7-3770s quad-core processor and runs Windows 8 Professional Edition (64-bit) operating system.
Other hardware includes 8GB RAM, 500GB 7200rpm hard drive, 802.11b/g/n wireless, Bluetooth (can be connected to keyboard) and DisplayPort port. It also has optional RFID and 3G module.
As to the 46-inch coffee table product, Indum equips it with the same 3M Full HD display panels, but the height is only 22.4 inches. Smaller size also brings lighter weight (126lbs). It comes standard with a 2.7GHz quad-core Intel Core i7 2620M processor, 8GB DDR3 memory and 500GB hard drive. Of course, an optional SSD or 240GB Blu-ray drive.
The first batch products are expected to be shipped in July. The coffee table with computer starts at $ 10,950 ($ 9,950 barebones), the full-size version is $ 12,950. The warranty period is 2 years.
