The Canadian Research in Motion held a news conference in New York, and officially released the “Blackberry straw” BlackBerry 10 operating system (hereinafter referred to as BB10), at the same time they also released two phones Z10 and Q10 equipped with the BB10 operating system.
At the conference, the RIM CEO Thorsten Heins officially announced that the company would abandon the use of Research in Motion and be directly renamed as BlackBerry, currently this decision has been approved by the Board of Directors, and Heins thinks that changing its name can make the BlackBerry company better promotion the BB10 system as well as phone products.
The new BB10 operation system is based on the QNX, which is completely different from BlackBerry previous mobile operating system, so you can not let your existing BlackBerry mobile upgraded to the latest BB10 system. The new system is more with the slide operation form, which has a very big difference with the past, but the BB10 system has very big advantage in running multiple programs.
Currently the BB10 has 70,000 applications and 12,000 are independently developed, Blackberry declared at the beginning of a new operating system release, there are more than 12,000 models of independent development software, and the BB10 is unprecedented.
BlackBerry Z10 is one of the two phones released at the conference, which has been multiply exposed before the press conference. The Z10 is with a 4.2-inch screen with a resolution 1280*768, the screen DPI reaches 356ppi. The Z10 body size is 130 × 66 × 9.3 mm, and it’s equipped with a 1.5GHz dual-core Qualcomm S4 pro processor and 2GB RAM and 1800mAh lithium battery, it supports MicroSD card expansion, at the same time it also has NFC as well as a 8.0 megapixel camera.
As to the network, Z10 supports LTE 4G network in the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom, and it uses MicroSIM card. It will land in the market in Canada and the United Kingdom next week, the U.S. market will need to wait until March.
The Blackberry Q10 is the rumored N10, however, at the press conference, the BlackBerry confirmed this phone model as Q10. Same as the previous 9900, this Q10 has a “touch screen + keyboard” dual input modes, and the screen size is 3.1 inches, which uses AMOLED material and is with a resolution of 720*720.
The BlackBerry Q10 is also equipped with Qualcomm S4 pro dual-core 1.5GHz processor and 2GB RAM. Although the screen is much smaller compared to the Z10 screen, but Q10 has an advantage in the input operation. Same as the Z10, Q10 also has a 8.0 megapixel camera, and MicroSD memory card for memory expansion. This phone supports NFC and Bluetooth 4.0 for wireless transmission.
